05/09/2026 - Back walking the quiet roads after a few days away. It was sunny and peaceful, just what we needed. A hummingbird hawkmoth at the cafe was the pick of the day but there were lots of other nice things about too. I like days like this, I didn't want the walk to end. #Caterpillar #Bee #Mushtodon

Pesticides can poison bees or destroy the flowers they depend on, while habitat loss leaves them with fewer safe places to live and feed. Protecting native plants and using fewer chemicals could help these vital pollinators recover.

Wool carder bees are funny. If you get close to their flowers, they will dart around and hover, staring at you from different spots and angles, making it very clear this is their territory. They move so fast, I can usually only get good photos when they stop for a few seconds to copulate (which they do a lot). So I was thrilled when this one stood still long enough for a couple of closeups. I don't have a fancy camera or macro lens but this is not bad eye detail for a phone camera. #bee
