On the Christchurch City Libraries’ Flickr page is this photo of a kids’ voting booth set up at the Linwood library. This will be near to the real election booths for adults. The kids get to select their top pet candidate. The candidates range from the more centrist cat and dog representatives to the ant farm and axolotl minor parties. Khor Virap Monestary

Khor Virap Monestary is in Armenia, very near the Turkish border. In the background is Mount Ararat, the symbol of Armenia, even though it is modern day Turkey. The Mount Ararat region was swapped by the Soviet Union (when Armenia was part of it) with Turkey against an area of land in present day Georgia. Interestingly the swap was agreed with a Turkish delegation that was in fact not in power and this remains an issue between Armenia and Turkey. A beautiful part of the world as well as a very

Here's NZ's Southern Alps at sunrise this morning, as seen from Ōtautahi-Christchurch city. My wife described the sky as "mega-pink." Jako, że są grupy i o polskiej wiośnie, czy lecie, a brakuje mi o polskiej jesieni, która w naszym kraju jest naprawdę piękna i kolorowa, dlatego postanowiłem utworzyć tę grupę. 18 years of korimako in southwestern Ōtautahi-Christchurch, NZ

Every fortnight since 9 July 2008 (with a few exceptions), I have run this 10.1 km route through the suburbs of southwestern Ōtautahi-Christchurch. That's between Centennial Park (Pioneer Stadium) in the southeast and the Wigram Retention Basin (site of the annual A&P show) in the northwest. From the start I counted all native forest birds and butterflies and wild mammals, and quickly ramped up to all birds and an assortment of other taxa. I was disappointed when Flickr started allowing AI generated images on the site. Now they are actually selecting AI images for their Explore front page, where they select pics daily from around the world (I have had several on there myself). So that is a *photography* site actively choosing fake imagery, not created by a person, over selecting a photograph created by a person using skill and artistic eye to frame & light & capture a moment.
