Italian PM Giorgia Meloni says her government’s support for Ukraine may cost her politically, including among some of her own voters, but she has no intention of changing course. “I do not support Ukraine simply for the sake of the Ukrainians. I do it for Italy,” she said. Meloni argued that an international order where only the militarily strongest prevail is not in Italy’s national interest. #Italy

Come, Lollobrigida: “An exceptional product unjustly criminalized, the Government…” AGI - “The Government’s presence is constant, our producers recognize it, not just ours but also internationally. One of the world’s leading enologists said that France turned its back on wine, Italy didn't, and in fact invests in supporting businesses and promoting an exceptional product that is unjustly criminalized.” This was stated by Minister of Agriculture Francesco Lollobrigida in an interview with AGI at La Nuvola dell’Eur during the event for the 40th anniversary of the Gambero Rosso, where the ‘Three Glasses’ awards are presented to the best Italian wines. “Opposition representatives should be ashamed of what they have failed to do over time in terms of defending this system and resources: in the NRRPs, previous governments had invested only 3.6 billion in agriculture, we have brought it up to 8 billion and 100.” Said Minister of Agriculture Francesco Lollobrigida. “In these days we will give another signal of particular attention, with a bill presented by the Government about a year and a half ago: ‘Coltiva Italia’ makes available to the agricultural world over one billion euros, an unprecedented result in the history of the republic,” he added. “We have worked together with major oil companies. Prime Minister Meloni believes it has been extraordinarily attentive to dialogue with Eni, which is a national company, and obviously with those nations that could help us, such as Kuwait in recent hours.” “We are working with great attention, with great caution – explained the minister – The State has the resources to help our producers and on the other hand also to be helped by the private world to support sectors that must always remain more solid. To do this, one of the attentions is fuel, and as far as I am concerned, agricultural fuel.” #TheGovernment’s #France #Italy #LaNuvoladell’Eur #the‘ThreeGlasses’ #Italian #Government #Meloni #Kuwait #State

Rome at night. Panoramic nighttime view of the EUR-Torrino district in Rome, Italy, photographed on 14 October 2026. Two modern skyscrapers dominate the illuminated skyline: the Eurosky Tower on the left, recognizable by its distinctive blue-lit rooftop structure, and the Europarco Tower in the centre, with its tall, vertically striped façade and glowing windows. To the right, the Euroma2 shopping centre shines with warm golden lights, while roads, roundabouts, parked cars and residential buildings spread across the foreground beneath a dark night sky. @foto@diggita.con #photography #fotografia #fotografie #Roma #Rome #Italy #Italia #EUR #Torrino #RomaEUR #Euroma2 #EuroskyTower #EuroparcoTower #Europarco #RomeSkyline #RomeByNight #RomePhotography #ModernRome #ModernArchitecture #ContemporaryArchitecture #ArchitecturePhotography #Skyscrapers #Grattacieli #NightPhotography #Nightscape #Cityscape #CityLights #UrbanPhotography #UrbanLandscape #October2026

🐶 TIL: A #1920s #psychology #experiment asked people to match made-up words with shapes, and most agreed that "bouba" sounds round while "kiki" sounds spiky. Researchers in #Italy tested 70 dogs, playing the words over speakers while showing both shapes on screens. The #dogs looked more at the round shape during "bouba" and the spiky shape during "kiki." 👉 https://www.sciencealert.com/dogs-seem-to-agree-with-humans-that-bouba-is-round-and-kiki-is-spiky #science #boubakiki #language #research #animals #cognition #learning #education #animals #nature #behavior

Venice is magical 😍 Yes, there are thousands of other tourists but honestly, it was pretty chill and less touristy than expected. You can still get a 75min 'grand tour' ferry ride for 10€ and delicious sandwiches for 2,80€. I wish we had booked tickets to the palace in advance - completely sold out. Maybe another time. #Italy #Venice #travel

Astronomical Clock, Messina, Sicily, Italy “The astronomical clock of Messina is an astronomical clock in Messina, Sicily, southern Italy, constructed by the Ungerer Company of Strasbourg in 1933. It is built into the campanile of Messina Cathedral. The mechanism was designed by Frédéric Klinghammer, with the artistic design based on plans by Théodore Ungerer. Parts of the design are similar to the Strasbourg astronomical clock. The idea was to restore the ancient astronomical clock of the old medieval bell tower of the cathedral of Messina, destroyed in previous eras. It was commissioned by the Archbishop of Messina Angelo Paino to mark the reconstruction of the campanile after the 1908 Messina earthquake, perhaps on inspiration of Pope Pius XI, who gave him a functioning model of the Strasbourg clock.[1] – Wikipedia https://welchwrite.com/blog/2026/10/14/clock/ Follow My Photos on Pixelfed: https://pixelfed.social/p/douglaswelch/1016008152518662441 #clock #astronomy #architecture #history #messina #sicily #italy #photography #travel
