@luca@sironi.xyz I think the "official EU" should have multiple instances; after all, it's the Fediverse. That, in itself, would make for a far more resilient and robust solution. And yes, "official Canada" should (obviously) also have something similar. hi devs, i am trying to develop a server for fediverse to use in my laravel blog (newly migrated to) but i am having issue testing and verifying it actually works in real life. anyone know any tool to use to debug it easily? for now i only managed to run "activitypub-testing" but looking for other options ideally that do not imply running my own mastodon instance and checking its logs. #php #laravel #federation #programmer #fediverse #testing #developer

We made a policy document to combat some of the bad faith allegations being posted to #Fediblock regarding neondystopia.world and to outline where we stand on moderation practices. We've gone and leveraged Misskey pages for conveniently finding information about the instance. I do hope this will help some of the system administrators and moderators of instances to reach an informed conclusion on whether to peer with our instance in future. There’s a #witchhunt atmosphere in the #Federation again. Collective punishment, insinuations, and the unquestioning belief that you’re on the right side. @dansup@mastodon.social has counted the landlords. That’s how it stands. 13 million profiles – who would have thought it? We can certainly be a little proud. Everyone has done their bit – some more, some less, each according to their ability. So now we have a huge, global, independent, federated network. It’s by no means the solution; the work is only just beginning. I’ve been involved right from the start. As I’m not a dev, I’m just a loudmouth. Assuming the 'AI load' argument is true, moving to GitLab, Codeberg, etc. might not be the solution as with sufficient moves they'd face the same problem. Also, the visibility and discovery/search possibilities get a lot harder. Hence, federated forges and a fully distributed cross-forge search option that does not rely on a single point of failure is needed. Now who's funding the remainder of the way to full forge federation for Forgejo? @dansup@mastodon.social is in the next Pixelfed release a bugfix about the peertube issue? It makes no sense, that #Peertube videos are not federated, but #Loops video are, they could even be played in #Pixelfed directly... Even if one is your project, they should be both treated equal. On #Nostr, there’s an idea I really like called ‘ #Lightning/ #Zaps’. These are microtransactions on the blockchain. They take place without proof, are collected and then recorded on the blockchain as a single large commit. This happens in real time, so to speak, and is designed to support #artists, #journalists and content creators. 22 Zaps are worth about 0.01 cents. If you hear a song you like, you can ‘like’ it and the artist gets a tiny bit of money. I like this idea. This is also a problem in the #Federation. As long as paradise hasn’t yet dawned, we have to earn money. That’s impossible here. With Zaps, it’s possible, albeit only a very small amount.

A question to the Fediverse about that old favourite topic: federation! I wrote this post on Pixelfed the other day: https://pixey.org/p/bammerlaan/978063577283062656 If I look at it through Mastodon, from this account, I think I see all of the replies. Among others, there's one from someone asking for details about zips and buttons, and someone asking where I got the sewing pattern. I replied to both of them using my Mastodon account. I then replied to one of my own replies with photos and more information. If I look at the post from Pixelfed, though, I only see two replies. My first replies to them are visible, but not the follow-up reply with more pictures. If I look at the original post of the person asking for the pattern (https://sh.itjust.works/comment/26164267) I notice that my reply to them isn't even shown. Looking at the post from Mbin, which I use, I also don't see all of the replies: https://thebrainbin.org/m/sewing@lemmy.world/p/780358 This is a problem, I'd say. It makes the Fediverse seem emptier than it is, let alone the fact that my reply doesn't seem to be visible even to the person I'm directly replying to. Just finished my FreeSewing Crux Climbing pants. I first made a muslin, a first for me, just to see where the problem areas were and to reduce the amount of mistakes on the fancy pink fabric. I also tried dying the muslin using saved avocado pits and shells, which worked out pretty well. I also tried out some of my Bernina 930's decorative stitches on the muslin.
