Just about the only thing I still use Amazon for is a book wish list (remember when Amazon was a bookshop?) that family look at when they want to buy me something. I have wish lists on BWB, Hive, Waterstones and WOB (and probably elsewhere) that I’ve added things to because I have spotted them when browsing that site. What I’d like is to create a single wish list of books that hooks up to BookFinder (or similar) that I can use instead, as a single point of reference & that lets purchasers cross things off without a likelihood of malicious or bot interference. Does anyone know if such a thing already exists? I can do it manually on my own webpages and cross things off myself upon receipt, but something a bit easier would be nice… #Books #Reading #Bookstodon

Question for #Bookstodon .... I'm looking to migrate away from Goodreads (luckily I didn't get too far into using it). Hoping for something very open/non-corporate. Thoughts on #Bookwyrm vs #Openlibrary ? Bookwyrm seems to be missing a lot of books. And the work to add them seems a waste when I can go upstream to OpenLibrary. OL lacks the social features but Bookwyrm seems very uh... basic & kinda ugly. 🤔 #reading #books

Now that I'm technically an adult and don't have school assignments, I only read leisurely 😁 #ReadingMemes #Meme #Humor #Humour #Funny #Geek #Reading #Readers #ReadingCommunity #AmReading #Novel #Books #Fiction #Bookstodon

Hi, I'm Cole. I'm a full-time independent webmaster & designer, working mostly with small businesses. When I'm not working, I'm usually sitting in my corner chair reading, writing, or out at the local park enjoying the trees. 🌲 I've just joined Mastodon after a long break from social and I'm looking forward to connect with others here! #Introduction #WebDesign #Freelance #Reading

Here's my revamped #introduction: my name is Michelle. I'm a 29 year old #trans, #lgbtq and #disabled woman who is currently escaping domestic violence. I have decided to try my hand at Mastodon. I love #cats and I'm from #canada. I love #reading, #writing and #gaming. I'm also really into talking about #politics - especially #cndnpoli, #onpoli, and #USPolitics. If you are interested in any of these things, I'd love to follow eachother and I'd love a boost on this post! #newhere

Oh hiii Masto. <3 While I'm here, Ive been working on my reading journal and decided I couldn't pick a bingo board soo I made my own featuring prompts that fit *my* tastes and wants in fiction.. so of course went off and make a shareable board and popped it up on Storygraph as a challenge. Wanna read like me? Have fun! It's open-ended, prompts are open to your interpretation (even if I intended certain things with them, it's cool)! https://app.thestorygraph.com/reading_challenges/a998d77d-c8fb-4c00-bd44-de7090d719da #books #bookstodon #reading #bookbingo

The second anniversary of this post is coming up, and surprise surprise these little "end of life" laptops are continuing to run well with #linux and do what we need them to, which includes spending less on tech so we can buy more actual books for the school library. #schooltech #endof10 #edtech #foss #reading #kidlit

I'm currently reading "Nuclear War: A Scenario" by Annie Jacobsen. https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/182733784 It is an excellent but rather terrifying read, so far. #books #reading @mfeir@mstdn.social @bookstodon@fedigroups.social

Hello everyone! I am redoing my introduction post. It’s been forever since I’ve updated mine and it’s gotten quite old. I am 26 years of age, I will turn 27 on October 19 this year. Some of my interests include, reading, listening to music, technology, and watching TV shows. I also enjoy getting to know new people, and saying hello to others around. While I may not post often, you’ll see me lurking around, and I will sometimes reply to posts or topics that interest me. When it comes to reading, I like to read a lot of science fiction novels. Things like the Martian, Project Hail Mary, and I am always looking for book recommendations of that type. As far as music goes, I listen to a little bit of everything depending on my mood. If I am in the mood to party, then I’ll probably listen to EDM. if I want to relax, I will listen to classical music and if I want comfort, I will listen to gospel music. For TV shows, I like to watch medical dramas like Chicago fire, 911, and that’s sort of thing. I also enjoy watching StarTrek Deep Space 9, StarTrek the next generation and StarTrek Voyager. My technology interests include, artificial intelligence, reading up on the latest technology, and so much more. This is who I am and if you would like to get to know me, feel free to follow me and message me anytime or just write me a post. #Introduction #NewHere #Reading #Music #Technology #Tv

So the idea of Bookhouse is basically inspired by this book from 1979 called ‘Masquerade’ by an artist called Kit Williams. He hid a golden hare in the UK and wrote this book and filled it full of paintings as the clues to where the treasure is buried. I’m trying to do the same. But different. #kitwilliams #goldenhare #masquerade #treasurehunt #puzzlebook #bookstodon #reading #game

If there’s any indication that audiobooks count as reading, take a hard look at the current reading is dying or is a lost art discourse, and yet, audiobook listeners continue to have better reading comprehension than those that simply do not read at all. I came across a YouTube video a few years ago where this non-disabled guy is going through self help book after book struggling to read and all the discourse surrounding him was rooted in, of course, ableism, but actively angry at him for trying to improve himself. I am not a fan of any self help books at all but Maybe the cure to save this reading decline is not to shame others when they want to read anything or listen to something. #Reading #Education
