“Founded three years ago and based in Tel Aviv, Irregular is a niche player in artificial intelligence, backed with $80 million from Sequoia and #RedpointVentures and valued last year at $450 million. Its technology serves as a sort of #cybersecurity test bed for AI models.
With the leading models becoming ever more powerful, their ability to act in malicious ways is turning into a major threat for corporations and governments, especially as the risk involves hacking into critical computer #systems and #infrastructure. The recent exploits at OpenAI, Anthropic and Meta all involved their AI models accessing websites that should have been off-limits as part of the cybersecurity testing.
#Irregular’s name kept coming up because it was identified as hosting the so-called evaluation testbed.”
Meanwhile #VC money is having a two-way bet; Money on #AI; Money on #hacking AI-models… I mean *cough* #Pentesting *cough*

"Hello world" for a first post is boring, so here's a little about me and what to expect on my profile :)
(Spoiler: mainly infodumps on whatever it is I am working on)
Currently doing research at Northeastern, working on firmware fuzzing and embedded systems security at CactiLab.
Previously molecular dynamics at PsiThera, systems/security research at UMass Amherst (thesis was Rust vs C++ performance at the assembly level).
Interested in OS internals, compilers, RE, and anything low-level and hard to debug. Write occasionally at skushagra.com
Excited to be here, and thank you so much if you notice <3

Had a solid, helpful conversation with a person who Knows A Bunch Of Shit about organizations and systems, about subtle but clear problems in liberal/progressive organizations of leadership getting authoritarian and pissy while insisting they aren't. For example, leaders refusing or just declining to use within-organization expertise to address problems because that increases power of the rank-and-file and therefore reduces the relative power of the leadership.
Anyway, it's awesome to have someone around who knows things and is deeply thoughtful about this stuff. It is a nice bonus that sometimes they meet up with you and have long smooches.

Is there a #systems term for the state where an organization is spending the majority of it's time on second or third order consequences of it's systems instead of pursuing it's original purpose?
I think most programmers would describe this as spending your time "firefighting" but it doesn't really capture the idea.
“The issue was therefore not simply the loss of one NTP #server or #redundancy in the #design of the #configuration of the three #NTP servers, but the propagation and acceptance of erroneous #date information by #interconnected #systems that rely on timing as a #trust and ordering #reference.”
Q Who said this first?
#LeslieLamport or some #Telstra exec?

The most durable assets aren't steel and concrete, but the systems, relationships, and knowledge that outlast them. We overvalue physical permanence while neglecting the invisible infrastructure that creates value across generations. #longtermthinking #systems #value
Nature is the internet that actually works-distributed, self-healing, and millions of years tested. We treat it like a resource pile instead of the operating system we depend on. Ignoring that resilience is a failure of imagination, not technology. #nature #resilience #systems
🐘 Paper 4 is now live — Boundary Dynamics Series.
This paper shifts from persistence to failure:
How does collapse actually spread?
The framework defines cascade collapse as:
a progressive loss of boundary enforcement across coupled regions
Key distinction:
• local failure does not propagate
• cascade collapse does
Most critical insight:
systems can appear stable while internal admissibility has already failed
That “masked phase” is where real collapse begins.

The #economic system has developed on its own. We assume that it is subject to laws that are similar to the laws of nature: we only describe them, we do not try to change them. It is geared towards continuous growth and maximum profit and is a vicious circle of #greed and the production of goods.
With limited resources, constant growth must lead to collapse—this is a simple insight from #systems science and common sense. The faster the growth, the more rapid the collapse.
